Rao Chalasani is an Independent Consultant for Financial Services with expertise in Risk management and technology strategy. Rao Chalasani most recently served Bank of America Merrill Lynch in the New York office as Chief Technology Officer and Risk Strategist embedded in the global markets trading business side. He was responsible for leading a Global Markets wide Strategetic Risk Management solution that enabled Senior Trading Management across every business access to their Market Risk, Credit Risk, Profit n Losss, VAR , RWA n Capital Charges, balance Sheet, and Stress Scenarious. Chalasani previously took responsibility for reporting to senior management on risk issues concerning credit, distressed, and proprietary trading business and created technology strategies and solutions for different platforms. He also led the business risk work stream for Merrill Lynch Credit trading during the merger with Bank of America. He was promoted to this position after functioning for two years as Director of Global Credit, Real Estate, and Structured Products, and he contributed significantly to the business by accomplishing its mitigation of operational risk and implementing the first processing platform for credit derivatives. In addition, Rao Chalasani single-handedly invented the U.S. patent-pending Enterprise Risk Management System. Rao Chalasani gained a wealth of experience in his field prior to joining Merrill Lynch & Co., Inc. From 2002 to 2005, he acted as Vice President and Project Manager of Global Markets–Derivatives Technology for Deutshe Bank AG in New York, where he managed a team of six developers and two business analysts and oversaw the trade capture for the global-structuring trading business. In addition, Rao Chalasani managed a credit derivatives trade capture systems team and put in place a vendor equity trading system called Neovest. From 1997 until 2002, Rao Chalasani served Merrill Lynch in a variety of positions including Vice President and Project Manager for Global Fixed Income Technology/E-Commerce and Assistant Vice President of Capital Markets and Fixed Income Technology. At SunGard, a trading systems vendor in New York, Chalasani spent a year as Project Leader for the foreign exchange and money markets trading system. In addition, Rao Chalasani acted as Project Manager for International Capital Markets in the Global Derivatives Division at JPMorgan Chase & Co. from 1994 to 1996, where he managed risk analytics, profit and loss statements, and portfolio valuations for senior risk managers and led a team that provided technology support for 12 traders. During his tenure, Chalasani completed the 18-month Chase Leadership and Management Development Program, in which he rotated through different groups and gained expertise in various disciplines including technology, risk management, and project management. Rao Chalasani has an excellent grasp of technology inluding the architecture/functionality of core derivatives tradng n risk systems (Summit, Sungard, Infinity, RiskMetrics, Barra), data warehousing and reporting architecture, electronic trading, pricing and STP solutions, and latest technologies related to mobile solutions, and fast computing.
